Welcome to Workshop

Hi friends—Kristen here.

When I thought about starting this first post, I asked myself—do I tell you about the paint-splattered aprons? The laughter that fills our space? The quiet moments when someone realizes they just made something they didn’t think they could?

The truth is… I didn’t set out to start a business. I set out to find purpose.

From Passionette to Purpose

After stepping away from my first business to be a stay-at-home mom, I knew I wanted to get back into work—but in a way that felt meaningful, not just busy. A mentor once told me to start with a “passionette” (a mini passion), and that little spark planted a seed.

With my background in event planning, I began hosting small get-togethers at home—playdates, themed parties, and creative afternoons for my kids and their friends. What happened in between the snacks and the crafts surprised me: the moms started talking. Laughing. Connecting. We built a small, unexpected village.

That’s when I realized this was bigger than me.

Meeting Amanda and Growing the Vision

The following year, I met Amanda—another stay-at-home mom, former full-time professional, and fellow class mom for our kids’ kindergarten class. We became fast friends, organizing events for the PTA and our community.

It didn’t take long for us to realize we shared a vision: a place where people could gather for joy, creativity, and connection—not just for kids, but for adults, parents, and retirees alike.

That vision became Workshop.
